Welcome to the Indiana State Improvement Grant (IN-SIG) website.  IN-SIG is a five-year improvement initiative funded through the United States Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs.  The purpose of IN-SIG is to support professional development that will assist Indiana school districts in reforming educational practices, including early intervention and transitional services, that will improve the success of students with disabilities in Indiana.

Mission Statement

The Indiana State Improvement Grant staff believes that the ultimate goal of the grant is to implement the mission of the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Learners.  This mission is:

"To promote and support equal opportunities, high expectations, and excellent services that, together, result in successful outcomes for students with disabilities and empowers them to contribute to the community, lead self-directed lives and pursue rewarding careers."

IN-SIG Project Goals

Goal One
To assist students to successfully meet challenging academic and behavior standards.

Goal Two
To improve early childhood programs and transitions.

Goal Three
To improve and enhance post-secondary education and employment outcomes for students with disabilities.

Goal Four
To improve system-level partnerships and collaborations among families, schools and community agencies.

Goal Five
To improve the quantity and quality of personnel to meet student needs.
